Ontario woman arrested after failing to stop at Pembina border crossing

An Ontario woman has been arrested in North Dakota after allegedly not stopping at the Pembina border crossing.

An Ontario woman was arrested after allegedly failing to stop at a border crossing in Manitoba.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) posted on social media that a vehicle failed to stop on Saturday at the Pembina Port of Entry and continued southbound on Interstate 29.

According to the highway patrol, the suspect vehicle crossed the median and briefly travelled northbound in the southbound lanes on the interstate creating a “significant safety risk for the motoring public.”

The U.S. Border Patrol called for help from additional troopers, who then used tire deflation devices near Grand Forks which damaged the suspect vehicle’s tires.

Troopers then used a controlled intervention to stop the vehicle, bringing it to a safe stop on the northern end of Cass County on I-29.

“The suspect, a female resident of Ontario, was taken into custody by NDHP without further incident and is being charged under North Dakota state law for fleeing and reckless endangerment,” the patrol wrote.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
