The Manitoba government and an organization that provides virtual physician visits are working to find a solution to virtual care billing. Some users of QDoc, a service that provides virtual doctor visits, received an email saying, “a recent change to how the province applies it payment rules for virtual care” took effect on Aug. 24. “It may limit QDoc’s ability to see patients in your area going forward,” the email reads. A spokesperson from the Manitoba government said there have been no changes to the virtual care reimbursement structure. “The Manitoba government routinely reviews physician billing and recently identified instances where services provided through QDocs did not align with what is eligible under the Physician Services Agreement,” the spokesperson wrote in a statement. “This does not limit a physician’s ability to provide care through QDocs or be paid for those services.” A QDoc spokesperson said they are working with the province to resolve the issue.
