Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries (MBLL) opened a new concept Liquor Mart inside the Save-on-Foods at Northgate Shopping Centre. Compared to existing Liquor Mart Express stores, all of the alcohol is behind glass and only accessible by an employee. A digital menu board lists the available products and prices, and shoppers order, pay for and collect their products from a service window. “What this brings here is great convenience of being able to shop here with a limited number of employees and still bring that service to the consumer with that knowledge and that product expertise,” said Robert Holmberg, executive vice president of liquor and cannabis operations with MBLL. The store will be managed by one to two employees at a time and is also the first fully cashless Liquor Mart, MBLL said. MBLL said if the store is popular, more locations will follow.
