A new streaming comedy series about a family of bear wranglers is boasting several major Canadian names. “I Killed The Bear” is the latest six part series from “Letterkenny” creator and star Jared Keeso, which is premiering Friday. In addition to creating the show, Keeso also leads the cast, which includes Jonathan Torrens (“Trailer Park Boys”), Sarah-Maude Beauchesne (“Fourchette”), Kristin Kreuk (“Smallville”), Adrian Holmes (“Bel Air”), UFC legend Georges St-Pierre and Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger. The series is about the Thibaults, a Franco-Ontarian family who makes their living wrangling bears on film sets. “They live out in the bush and they’ve been training bears in the movie business for 100 years,” said Torrens, who plays Cedric Thibault, one of four sibling wranglers. “But now, because the world has changed, even though their methods haven’t, they’re finding it kind of hard to navigate the new landscape. So they’ve decided that this movie might indeed be their very last one, and this tells that story.” St-Pierre, who plays Olivier Thibault, said the humour of the series appeal to him. “I’m very proud to be part of this because I think this series is very unique,” he said. Torrens said the comedy of the show takes aim at multiple people and groups, including rural Canadians and Hollywood. “Everybody gives as good as they get, and no one gets off unscathed,” Torrens said. In addition to the main cast, the show includes cameos from Jann Arden, George Stromboulopoulos, Ben Mulroney and Scott Thompson (“Kids in the Hall”). The six episodes of “I Killed The Bear” are now streaming on Crave. CTV News, Crave and CP24 are owned by Bell Media, which is a division of BCE Inc. With files from CTV’s Rachel Lagacé
