Manitoba weather: How long will the rain and cold last?

Rainfall, cloudy skies, and temperatures barely crawling into double digits are on tap Thursday for most of southern Manitoba as the cool start to September continues.

A low-pressure system out of the Arctic hunkered down over western and southern parts of the province on Thursday morning. Up to 20 mm of rain are expected to fall in areas of Westman, including Brandon, while Winnipeg and the capital region could see between 5 and 10 mm of rain before it tapers off late this evening.

Meantime, northern Manitoba should see a mix of sun and cloud Thursday and much of the same heading into the weekend.

Temperatures throughout Manitoba are hovering around 10 C, which is well below early September averages in the high teens and low 20s.

A mix of sun and cloud and temperatures in the mid-teens are still on top for Saturday’s Banjo Bowl showdown between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Saskatchewan Roughriders.

A return to seasonal norms and plenty of sunshine is anticipated by Sunday and should carry into next week.
