Man in hospital after being run over by vehicle: Winnipeg police

A man is in unstable condition after being run over by an SUV on Wednesday, according to the Winnipeg Police Service.

Police said a driver was leaving a parking lot in a black SUV shortly after 7 p.m. and was headed northbound in the back lane of the 400 block of Balmoral Street.

Police said the driver of the vehicle unknowingly hit a 55-year-old man who was already lying on the ground.

The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition, which has since been upgraded to unstable condition, according to police.

The driver of the SUV remained on scene and met with officers. Police continue to investigate.
