A 28-year-old man was arrested by Winnipeg police after allegedly robbing two businesses with a knife. On Friday evening, the man was removed from a lounge in the 1100 block of St. Mary’s Road due to belligerent behaviour. After he was removed, the man went to a fast-food storefront in the 600 block of Dakota Street with a knife and chased employees from the store. He left without taking anything. At 9:50 p.m., the man returned to the 1100 block of St. Mary’s Road and allegedly stole a 15-pack of beer from a vendor at knifepoint and left without payment. An employee tried to intervene but attending officers saw the interaction and the man fled on foot. He was arrested after a short foot pursuit. No injuries were reported. The man is now facing charges of robbery, possession of a weapon, and failure to comply with conditions of a release order. He was detained in custody.
