Pan Am Pool will soon be closed to the public as the facility undergoes rehabilitation. According to the City of Winnipeg, the pool needs renewal work to keep it operational for years to come. The upgrades include concrete repairs to the pool tank, deck and dive towers, as well as retiling and the replacement of the waterproof membrane in the main tank. Construction is expected to begin in January 2027 and is expected to last for 16 months. The facility will be closed to the public during renovations to ensure public safety and limit any disruptions. The city noted the east training tank, lockers rooms and concourse-level spaces will stay open to select users. On Thursday, Winnipeg issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) to create a list of candidates eligible to take part in the tender process. The RFQ closes at the start of next month, with tendering expected this summer.
