SWANSEA — Canadian midfielder Stephen Eustaquio signed with Swansea City in the Championship, England’s second-highest soccer league, the club announced Thursday. The 29-year-old joins the Welsh club from Portuguese side Porto on a two-year contract with an option for another season. Eustaquio, born in Leamington, Ontario, spent four-and-a-half years at Porto, making more than 150 appearances. He also spent four months on loan with Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles FC earlier this year. He is coming off a memorable World Cup with Canada, which reached the knockout stage for the first time. Eustaquio scored the stoppage-time winner in Canada’s 1-0 victory over South Africa in the round of 32 before Canada was eliminated by Morocco. The Canadian international will wear No. 46 and could make his Swansea debut this weekend against Derby County. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 27, 2026.
