The Flin Flon Snowlodge opens for business

A winter wonderland made from snow and ice has officially opened in a northern Manitoba community.

Friday marked the grand opening of the Flin Flon Snowlodge – a 56-foot-long arch with ice walls located on a campground in the city.

The lodge will be used for a wide array of activities and events, including dinners, concerts and wedding socials.

To build the structure, snow was blown onto a large steel arch at a high velocity. The steel form was then removed, leaving just the snow arch behind.

The temperature inside the lodge sits around -1 to -2 C.
