Winnipeggers are still enjoying summer-like temperatures, a day before the end of September. Coral Delongchamp was out at the Assiniboine Park with her friend Monday for a walk. “We just came for a walk because it’s such a nice day … the colours are nice, they are beautiful this time of year,” Delongchamp said. Environment and Climate Change Canada’s meteorologist Brian Proctor confirmed to CTV News the exceptional weather. “It’s very significant. When we think of our temperature this time of the year being 15 degrees for a normal high, and we’re looking at 10 degrees above that – it’s really a significant amount of temperature deviation,” Proctor said. Peter Harman was over in Osbourne Village, enjoying the sun on the patio of Bar Italia. “Patios are my favourite thing to do in Winnipeg. Everyone’s so friendly. The more the sun shines, the more the people come out,” Harman said. Shifting to the Grant Park area, Fionn MacCool’s Restaurant and Pub was enjoying the extended patio season, thanks to warmer weather. Jay Kilgour, managing partner of the location, said his customers have been taking advantage of the heat. “They’re just loving the weather. They walk in the front door, take a look around and see that patio is open; they’re like ‘we’ll sit outside.’ “I think we’re going to go right until we can’t (operate the patio) anymore.” Delongchamp’s walk partner, Michelle Carlson, agreed with the notion. “It’s beautiful out today. It couldn’t be better … (we’re) just basically trying to enjoy it outside, as long as we can.”
