What Jets fans need to know about the Game 5 Whiteout Street Party

It could be a rainy Whiteout Street Party Thursday and fans are being told to be prepared if they plan on attending.

Environment and Climate Change Canada is forecasting rain in the afternoon, which will continue into the evening.

That will likely overlap with the 8:30 p.m. puck drop for Game 5 between the Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars at Canada Life Centre.

People are being encouraged to bring rain gear; however, umbrellas are not allowed at the Street Party. There will be clear ponchos available for purchase, but quantities are limited.

“True North’s priority is to maintain a safe, responsible and fun community event and we thank Street Party attendees for remaining respectful and contributing to the spirit of community that the events are intended to create,” True North said in a statement.

The city is also reminding people that Donald Street will be closed starting at 9 a.m. Thursday between Portage Avenue and St. Mary Avenue. It won’t be reopened until Friday at 7 a.m.

Graham Avenue will also be closed in both directions between Hargrave and Smith streets from 9 a.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Friday.

The city is suggesting drivers use alternate routes like Main Street or Osborne Street.

Some transit stops will also be rerouted due to the Graham closure. Those who use stops between Kennedy and Smith are told to go to stops at the intersections of Graham and Vaughn Street and Graham and Fort Street instead.

Millennium Library will also be closing early Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
