Whiteout Street Party tickets are some of the hottest tickets in town. The party for Game 5 between the Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars went on sale Monday and sold out in minutes. Those who missed out on being able to purchase have been left to scour online marketplaces or third-party websites. But some Jets fans have been struggling to find legit tickets. Keri McGraw is one of those people. She has yet to score tickets to the event. “Very sad. I want to experience it once in my life,” she said. She has been trying every time they go on sale, but they are all sold out by the time she makes it to the top of the queue. She has even posted on social media looking for people selling them, but she said all the responses she received seemed fishy. “It’s the same story. Everybody has the same story, which is why I’m like, I don’t trust it.” Tickets are $10 each and are limited to four per person. Arianna Huff was able to get four for Thursday’s party, but she wanted more. “Nobody else who tried got any. So we’re just hoping we can find more so all the friends can come,” said Huff. She noted she has been searching elsewhere online for tickets, to no avail. “(You) click on their profile, and it’s all posts from a day ago. They’re very obviously fake people, and all their reviews are people saying, ‘I just got ripped off by this person.’” Getting tickets for a reasonable price is also an issue. “At first it was for like $20, $30, which was like, OK, that’s fine. But then I went on StubHub and I found some for $200, and I checked again the next day, and they had sold. Who’s paying that?” A Winnipeg police spokesperson told CTV News Winnipeg that its financial crimes unit has had a few reports come through about Whiteout Party ticket scams. Police discourage people from sending e-transfers to unknown sellers for tickets buyers have not seen themselves. True North said the four-ticket limit is there to help more people get tickets and the re-sale function is also not enabled. “Both measures prevent the upselling of tickets, and there is no indication that this is happening in abundance at this time,” a spokesperson said in a statement. McGraw said if she finds tickets from someone she knows, then she will proceed with getting tickets, but otherwise she feels it’s not worth the risk.
