Here are the Manitobans who are fighting to claim the Stanley Cup

The Winnipeg Jets may not be extending their season into the playoffs, but Manitoba hockey fans have an opportunity to cheer for a number of local players.

The 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs are set to start on April 18.

Here is a look at the Manitobans who will be battling for the Stanley Cup this spring.

Morgan Geekie – Boston Bruins

The Strathclair, Man., product is having a career year with the Bruins as he has tallied 39 goals and 68 points through 81 games.

He is second on the team in points behind only David Pastrnak and he is leading Boston in powerplay goals with 12.

Conor Geekie – Tampa Bay Lightning

It is a family affair in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs as Morgan’s younger brother Conor could see the ice this postseason.

Conor got into 14 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning this season, scoring a goal and two assists in that time.

He has spent the majority of the season with the Lightning’s AHL team, the Syracuse Crunch, where he has scored 17 goals and added another 42 assists.

Tyson Kozak – Buffalo Sabres

Kozak, who is from Souris, Man., has got into 46 games with the Sabres this season.

He has hit the scoresheet six times (two goals and four assists).

Seth Jarvis – Carolina Hurricanes

Winnipeg’s Seth Jarvis has missed some time this season but has still suited up in 71 games for the Hurricanes, being one of their top offensive players with 31 goals and 66 points.

He was also on the world stage this year when he played for Team Canada at the Olympics, capturing a silver medal in the process.

Jordan Martinook – Carolina Hurricanes

Another Manitoba product on the Hurricanes is Jordan Martinook from Brandon.

He has 29 points in 77 games this season. This will be his eighth playoff appearance, all of which have come as a member of the Hurricanes.

Joel Edmundson – Los Angeles Kings

Another Brandon product on the list, Edmundson is going for his second Stanley Cup.

The defenceman was part of the 2019 championship team with the St. Louis Blues.

With L.A. this season, Edmundson has 23 points (two goals and 21 assists).

He has the third best plus/minus on the team at plus-14.

Daemon Hunt – Minnesota Wild

Another defenceman from Brandon, Hunt is in his first full season with the Wild.

He has got into 32 games this year, tallying six assists.

His best season in the AHL came in the 2023-24 season, when he had three goals and 29 points in 51 games, as well as playing 12 NHL games.

James Reimer – Ottawa Senators

The only goalie on this list, Reimer is from Morweena, Man.

He’s started 13 games this season backing up Linus Ullmark. He has a 7-4-2 record in that stretch with a 2.42 goals-against average and a .886 save percentage.

Travis Sanheim – Philadelphia Flyers

Sanheim, who is from Elkhorn, Man., and his Flyers are getting their first taste of playoff hockey since the 2019-20 season.

He has had a successful year on the blueline with 11 goals and 26 assists in 81 games. He was also a member of Team Canada at the Winter Olympics.

Connor Dewar – Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pas’ Connor Dewar is having the best season of his career, with 14 goals and 16 assists through 78 games.

He has also had success on the defensive side of the puck with a plus/minus of plus-16.

He has seen playoff action previously with the Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Mark Stone – Vegas Golden Knights

The third member on this list who wore the maple leaf at these past Olympic games, Winnipeg’s Mark Stone, is working to secure his second Stanley Cup.

The captain of the Golden Knights is having his best statistical career with 28 goals and 45 assists in 60 games.

His regular season success has continuously spilled over into the playoffs, his best year being when he won the Stanley Cup, scoring 24 points in 22 games.

Brett Howden – Vegas Golden Knights

Howden is the second of three Manitobans who play in Vegas.

The Oakbank, Man., product has 22 points in 58 games this season. He too was part of the Stanley Cup-winning team in 2022-23, where he tallied 10 points (five goals and five assists) in the playoff run.

Keegan Kolesar – Vegas Golden Knights

Kolesar, from Brandon, also has his name on the Stanley Cup after winning with Vegas a few years ago.

He played in all 82 games this season, grabbing six goals and 11 assists this season.
