Habitat for Humanity welcomes four Manitoba families to new homes

Four families received the keys to new homes from Habitat for Humanity Manitoba

Four local families officially have the keys to their new homes, thanks to the help of Habitat for Humanity Manitoba.

On Tuesday, the organization hosted a “welcome home day” for four families moving into its Pandora Avenue West development.

According to Habitat for Humanity, the families completed 500 volunteer hours, took part in financial education and worked alongside the organization to earn their affordable home ownership. The residents’ sweat equity served as down payments for the homes they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford.

The 55-home Pandora Avenue West community in Transcona is Habitat for Humanity Manitoba’s largest development to date. Before Tuesday’s ceremony, 35 families had already moved into the area, with 16 more expected to join later this year.
