Winnipeg Transit’s spring schedule is on the way. Here’s what you need to know

Changes are coming to some Winnipeg Transit routes in the spring.

Added late-night service, expanded capacity and route adjustments are rolling out as part of the new Winnipeg Transit spring schedule.

The city said transit’s spring schedule changeover will begin April 12.

This comes after the city overhauled its transit network last summer in a push to improve efficiency and reliability. In the months since, the revamp has garnered mixed reviews and a dip in ridership.

Still, the city said they’ve heard the feedback, and the spring tweaks will address concerns.

“We’re going to keep improving the service so it’s more reliable, more convenient, and works better for riders,” Winnipeg Mayor Scott Gillingham said in a news release.

As part of the spring schedule, new late-night hours are coming to 10 routes, with service now continuing after midnight on:

• D10: Panet – Adsum
• D14: Dugald – Broadway
• D16: Academy – Notre Dame
• D17: Talbot – Selkirk
• 28: Arlington – Stafford
• 38: Mountain – Munroe
• 43: Watt – Logan
• 70: Roblin
• 74: Kenaston – Keewatin
• 680: River Heights – Cambridge

The expanded service was part of the city’s most recent budget update, which earmarked over $18 million to extend hours on certain routes, upgrade infrastructure and add a transit planner.

The city is also adding trips on routes where ridership is larger than expected - the F5 and F8 lines, Route 74 between CF Polo Park and Old Commonwealth Path, Route 557, and Route 676 from St. Vital Centre to Bridgwater Centre and from St. Vital Centre to Creek Bend Road.

Meanwhile, fewer buses will run on FX3 east of Kildonan Place and FX4 north of McLeod Avenue.

“These refinements offset routes that have seen lower-than-expected ridership,” the city said in a news release.

Riders are reminded to plan their trips on Navigo or another transit trip planner.
