Teen charged with dangerous driving following fatal crash: Manitoba RCMP

A teenager has been charged following a crash in southwestern Manitoba that left a 77-year-old man dead.

A 17-year-old male has been charged following a fatal two-vehicle crash in Manitoba over the weekend.

According to RCMP, officers were called to the intersection of Highway 23 and Highway 5 in the RM of Argyle at 10:05 a.m. on Saturday.

When Mounties arrived, they found a pickup truck and SUV in the southwest ditch. Firefighters and EMS were already responding.

According to RCMP, the pickup was being driven south on Highway 5 when it collided with the SUV, which was travelling west on Highway 23. Mounties said the crash caused the SUV to roll several times into the ditch.

The driver of the SUV, a 77-year-old man from Killarney, was the only one in the SUV at the time. He received medical treatment but was pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck, a 17-year-old male from the RM of North Cypress, was not injured.

The driver of the truck was arrested and charged with dangerous driving causing death. The charge has not been proven in court.

The crash remains under investigation.
