Credit card scam reported in Central Plains

Contactless credit cards make it more convenient to pay for merchandise, but can also be vulnerable to electronic pickpockets. July 4, 2011.

People living in Central Plains are being warned about a credit card scam.

Local RCMP have noticed an increase in reports from residents who’ve received phone calls asking for credit card information to claim a prize.

Police are warning residents to be aware of this potential scam and to keep their personal information protected and to refrain from providing credit card or banking information over the phone.

In a press release, RCMP remind the public that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
