Community reports lead to 2 men arrested for drug trafficking

Multiple police reports from community members led to two men being charged with firearms and drug-related charges.

On Thursday, Winnipeg police searched a home in the one to 99 block of Watt Street, arresting two men, 40 and 44.

Police said they found three firearms, methamphetamine, fentanyl, hydromorphone, drug packaging materials, cell phones, power tools and $1,725 in cash from the search warrant.

The seized drugs are around 220 grams in total, with an estimated total street value of $13,100.

Both men are now facing multiple firearms, drug trafficking, possession of stolen property and proceeds of crime charges. They were both detained in custody.

According to police, both men and the home were directly connected to a recent spike in drug overdoses in the area.

The charges have not been tested in court.
