With the flip of the calendar page, Tuesday marks the first day of meteorological fall: the months of September, October and November. It is a warm start to September in Winnipeg and across southern Manitoba Tuesday. The daytime high in most areas is 23 C. Early afternoon cloudiness should turn to more of a mix of sun and cloud as the day progresses. Further north, central areas, including The Pas, Norway House and Island Lake, will see a mix of sun and cloud with afternoon temperatures reaching the low 20s. Further north, similar conditions are expected in Flin Flon. The rest of northern Manitoba will be on the cloudy side Tuesday with highs in the upper teens. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, northern and central regions could also see a few showers Tuesday in the wake of an upper low as it moves off to the east. There is a low chance showers could also spread across northwestern Ontario Tuesday. Otherwise, it will be a cloudy and windy start to September across the region, but with seasonal highs in the low to mid-20s. If you’re not ready to let go of summer just yet, you have good reason. Summertime heat will build on Wednesday in Winnipeg before returning to the upper 20s starting Thursday and into the start of the Labour Day long weekend. Speaking of the long weekend, we will likely be in for a soggy start on Saturday with showers and possibly thunderstorms in the city. Sunday will bring a mix of sun and cloud. Labour Day Monday is still a toss-up, with both sunshine and showers possible.
