The final weekend of August is almost here, but that doesn’t mean summer is over just yet. Temperatures throughout the weekend will be unseasonably warm, set to soar into the upper 20s and low 30s. But before we settle into weekend mode, conditions on Friday will be stormy in western Manitoba. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), thunderstorms will continue this afternoon, which should remain non-severe. Storms should remain in the west, but there is a risk of thunderstorms in Winnipeg and southeast Manitoba this afternoon and evening. Keep that in mind if you’re heading out to the Blue Bombers game this evening at Princess Auto Stadium. The sky will become increasingly cloudy across the south this afternoon, as temperatures rise to the mid-20s. The clouds will stop short of northwestern Ontario, where the sun is shining Friday afternoon. Daytime highs for most communities are 23 C or 24 C. Meanwhile, the sun is also shining across most of northern Manitoba on Friday. Temperatures will reach the upper teens and low 20s. ECCC said showers and thunderstorms in western Manitoba Friday afternoon will continue in parts of central and northern areas tonight.
