Colleen Bready’s Forecast: Warming up in southern Manitoba

After a cold start to the new year, we’re in for a warmup this week across southern Manitoba.

Forecast daytime highs for Winnipeg Monday through Friday are in the minus single digits, well above seasonal norms closer to -13 C. And much higher than temperatures over the last couple of weeks.

Brandon could even reach 0 C in the sunshine on Wednesday.

Temperatures will dip briefly across the south on Saturday but will rebound on Sunday.

But first, fog could persist in the afternoon on Monday across much of the south. Freezing drizzle can’t be ruled out either. Between the two, watch out for reduced visibility and slippery conditions on roads and highways.

Conditions are similar on the other side of the provincial border in northwestern Ontario on Monday, with a good chance of flurries or light snow added to the mix.

Daytime highs in northern Manitoba will remain in the -20s Monday. Disturbances will cross the region today and tonight, but Environment Canada said snowfall amounts won’t amount to much—a few centimetres at most, but likely much less for most areas.
