It is already the last day of July and it certainly feels like the heart of the summer is here. Much of southern Manitoba will see sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud, hot highs in the upper 20s and humidex values in the low 30s on Friday. Northwestern Ontario can expect the same. Friday will also be warm across northern Manitoba, with most regions forecast to reach the mid-20s under a mix of sun and cloud, with a low chance of showers. The northernmost regions – Brochet, Tadoule Lake and Churchill – will see temperatures climb to 22 C or 23 C, with similar sky conditions. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), scattered thundershowers are also possible over northern Manitoba. Elsewhere, there is a risk of thunderstorms across the southwest Friday afternoon and evening. Sky conditions Friday night should be uneventful across Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. Overnight lows across all regions will dip down to the mid-teens. Look for temperatures and humidity to climb over the August long weekend in the sunshine, peaking on Sunday with a daytime high of 32 C forecast for Winnipeg. If daytime highs in the mid-20s are closer to your temperature sweet spot, Terry Fox Day on Monday will see a forecast high of 24 C. Showers are possible.
