Colleen Bready’s forecast: Sunshine returns, cool temps persist

Sunshine has returned to southern Manitoba on Tuesday.

Daytime highs will remain unseasonably low by a few degrees, with afternoon temperatures reaching between -20 C and -18 C.

Still, compared to the extreme cold outbreak over the province last weekend, conditions could be much worse.

Northwestern Ontario will see a mix of sun and cloud or cloudy skies on Tuesday, with a few flurries possible.

A yellow cold warning was ended for the region by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) on Thursday morning, signaling a return to more tolerable winter temperatures in the upper minus teens.

Northern Manitoba will see a few flurries fly across the region on Tuesday, with daytime highs in the low -20s.

Ahead Monday, overnight lows across most of Manitoba and northwestern Ontario will drop to the mid -20s. Sky conditions will be quiet on both sides of the provincial border.

Similar sunny daytime conditions will continue in Winnipeg on Thursday and Friday, with highs in the minus upper teens.

A much milder air mass is on the way this weekend, bringing minus single digits highs, in stark contrast to last weekend’s brutal cold.
