After a foggy and misty morning in southern Manitoba on Tuesday, afternoon conditions are cloudy on this penultimate day of September. They won’t stay that way, though – the sky will gradually clear from west to east across southern Manitoba throughout the afternoon. Optimistically, Winnipeg will see at least some sunshine later in the day. Daytime highs in the city and across the south should reach the upper teens and low 20s, unseasonably mild for late September. Wind from the southwest will be strong and gusty in Brandon and southwest Manitoba this afternoon, ahead of a cold front sweeping across southern Saskatchewan. Monday’s rain in the south is now squarely over northwestern Ontario Tuesday. Dryden could be soaked with as much as 30-40 mm of rainfall this afternoon. Thunderstorms are also possible across the region. Mild temperatures will reach the upper teens. Unseasonably warm weather also continues in northern Manitoba. Daytime highs across the region Tuesday will reach the mid- to upper teens. Most northwestern areas will be cloudy and Lynn Lake could see showers. The northeast will enjoy a mix of sun and cloud. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, a low pressure system that developed over Alberta will spread rain in northern Manitoba. Rain will arrive tonight and continue on Wednesday. Wednesday is the last day of September and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Most southern regions, including Winnipeg and Brandon, will see a mix of sun and cloud with highs in the mid- to upper teens.
