When you hear a Colorado low is on the way to Manitoba, you might think we’re in for a lot of snow. However, that’s not always the case. The Colorado low over the province Friday is dumping a substantial amount of rain.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says the low is slowing down as it moves northward across Manitoba Friday.

That means rainfall amounts in the province will be higher than first thought, with 25 to 40 mm of total precipitation possible by late Saturday when the low moves out over Hudson Bay.

Southern areas will see rain and showers come to an end well before that, though.

Showers could end before kickoff at the Bomber game Friday evening at Princess Auto Stadium, but that’s not a guarantee. Still plan to dress warmly and for possible showers.

Until then, showers will continue Friday afternoon in the southeast, while more substantial rain will fall in the southwest.

As the low slowly moves north, it will bring rain to central and nearby northern regions Friday afternoon, then to the most northern areas by tonight.

Sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud will return to the south throughout the weekend, before the next round of rain on Monday.
