Sunshine and stable sky conditions are setting southern Manitoba up for a beautiful late October Friday afternoon and weekend ahead.

Ridges of high pressure at both the upper and surface levels are largely to thank for the nice weather.

Temperatures across the south will rise well above seasonal into the double digits this afternoon, with most regions aiming for highs between 10 C and 12 C, including Winnipeg and Brandon.

South winds will be gusting up through the Red River Valley, while winds will be light across the rest of the south.

Warm late October temperatures well above the freezing mark will extend to the most northern reaches of the province Friday, too. Churchill, Tadoule Lake and Brochet are set to reach 7 C, several degrees above normal for this time of year.

Sunshine or mix of sun and cloud will accompany the mild highs across most of the north.

Over in northwestern Ontario, expect highs Friday between 6 C and 8 C under a mix of sun and cloud.

Get ready for sunshine and soaring temperatures this weekend in Winnipeg, with forecast highs of 15 C on Saturday and Sunday. For perspective, the current normal daytime high for the city is 7 C.
