Access Credit Union closing several branches in Manitoba

Half a dozen Access Credit Union locations in Manitoba are closing and consolidating with other branches.

Several branches of Access Credit Union are closing and consolidating six branches of its banking operations this year.

The credit union announced Thursday that two branches in Winnipeg and branches in Moosehorn, Sanford, Plum Coulee and Emerson will close and consolidate with other branches to optimize operations.

“The consolidations are driven by several factors, including lower in-branch traffic, increased adoption of online and mobile banking, limited hours of operation in some locations due to consistent low traffic volumes, and the proximity of other Access Credit Union branches or communities where members frequently travel,” a statement from the organization reads.

Starting June 19, the Moosehorn branch will consolidate with the branch in Ashern and the Sanford branch will consolidate with a new location at Kenaston Crossing in Winnipeg. A branch at 850 Regent Ave. in Winnipeg will close, with business being transferred to the branch at 1300 Plessis Ave..

On Oct. 21, the Emerson branch will close and have its services consolidated with Altona, while the Plum Coulee branch will close and consolidate with Winkler. The branch in Winnipeg at 720 St. Anne’s Rd. will close and consolidate with the location at 515 St. Anne’s Rd.

Members of the impacted branches will receive letters about the consolidations, Access said, and employees will speak closely with individuals and businesses to ensure the transition remains smooth.
