$150K worth of stolen property recovered from Manitoba property: RCMP

RCMP in Westman recovered $150,000 worth of stolen property, some of it stolen in 2021.

Two people have been charged after a significant quantity of stolen property was recovered in the Westman region.

According to RCMP, officers were called on Nov. 3 to a report of items stolen from an area off Provincial Road 270 and Highway 1 north of Brandon.

The victims said various pieces of construction equipment, including a skid steer and a cargo trailer, were stolen between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

Mounties investigated and found the stolen skid steer at a property near PR 270 and Road 87 West. A man and woman on the property were arrested without incident.

A later, thorough search of the entire property found more stolen items, including a snowmobile, utility trailer, various construction signs, a boat, a boat trailer and a golf cart.

The value of the stolen items is approximately $150,000, and RCMP allege they were stolen from in and around Brandon and the Westman area as far back as 2021.

A 45-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, both from the RM of North Cypress-Langford, have been charged with 11 counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000.

They were detained in custody and the charges have not been proven in court.

RCMP said they are working to return property to the original owners.
