Attention all movie lovers! The Opening, Closing and Centrepiece screenings of the Windsor International Film Festival have been announced. “Paper Tiger”, starring Adam Driver, Miles Teller and Scarlett Johansson will kick off this year’s event on October 29th. It will be making its North American premier in New York before coming to WIFF. The Centrepiece selection centres around the decades long career of the Artistic Director of the Stratford Festival, Antoni Cimolino who’s from Windsor. Closing out the 2026 festival on November 8th will be “The Debut”, from film director Jesse Eisenberg and stars Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti. Its theatrical release will be in December. 235 films in total are expected to be screened. WIFF Executive Director Vincent Georgie told AM800’s The Shift, half of the movies screened this year will be Canadian. “WIFF is always Canada strong, as we should be, and as much as the “I” in WIFF is international, we cover 40-50 countries and we always want to make sure that Canada is the most represented and this year in particular we thought that was really important to do. Our goal this year is to be 51% with tongue firmly planted in cheek at the 51% with the 51st state and everything." Tickets for the opening and closing films are available online now, as well as festival passes, general ticket 10-packs, and premium ticket 3-packs. The full festival lineup will be revealed on Tuesday, September 22, with all tickets going on sale the same day. The 2025 WIFF event featured 231 feature films and over 300 screenings. -With files from AM800’s The Shift with guest host Kyle Horner
