A 42-year-old Manitoba woman has been re-arrested after allegedly submitting a forged doctor’s note in an attempt to reschedule a court date. The investigation began on Aug. 31 when Mounties learned the woman submitted a doctor’s note to her lawyer, which said she was unable to attend her court sentencing after being hurt in a car crash on July 22. The lawyer submitted the document to court and the Sept. 2 sentencing hearing for theft charges was adjourned to a later date. A court official followed up with RCMP officers, who began to investigate and determined the note was a forgery. Mounties also reviewed police files, which further confirmed that there were no reports involving the suspect and a car crash on July 22 in Manitoba or any other province. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday and charged with obstructing justice, forgery and uttering a forged document. She is in custody and the charges have not been proven in court.
