Tractor trailer collides with ‘crash truck’ on Highway 401

A 47-year-old man has been charged after police say a tractor trailer collided with a ‘crash truck’ on Highway 401 in LaSalle.

On Tuesday at 8:49 a.m., Essex County OPP say the tractor trailer hit a commercial motor vehicle affixed with a Crash Attenuator or “crash truck” that was providing protection to workers on the 401 eastbound.

Police say the driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured, the operator of the Crash Truck was transported to hospital as a precaution.

As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old Hamilton man was charged with careless driving.

The OPP is reminding motorists to use extreme caution and lower speeds when approaching service vehicles conducting repairs and maintenance on highways.
