Three-hour standoff leads to arrest, assault charges

A three-hour standoff on Byng Road Wednesday has led to the arrest of a 40-year-old man.

Windsor police said around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, they were called with a report of an assault at a home in the 3400 block of Byng.

The complainant said they left the home after they were allegedly assaulted and threatened by a man.

Police said the suspect allegedly threw the victim’s dogs across the room, threatening to kill them.

The victim didn’t sustain life-threatening injuries.

Officers said they spoke with the suspect, who refused to leave the home. Police then secured the perimeter, calling in the Emergency Services Unit and negotiators.

Around 4 p.m., the suspect surrendered and was arrested. He is facing charges of assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
