Spitfires look to sweep Firebirds in Game 4 Thursday night

The Windsor Spitfires will try to wrap up their second‑round series against the Flint Firebirds on Thursday night.

Windsor leads the best‑of‑seven series three games to none after a 2-1 win in Game 3 on Tuesday night at Dort Financial Centre.

Spitfires defenceman Wyatt Kennedy said the team wants to build on that performance.

“I think we did a lot of really good things,” Kennedy said. “We executed on what our coach wanted us to do, and it paid off.”

Kennedy said buy‑in throughout the lineup has been a key factor.

“From the first line to the fourth line, when the coach can trust anyone who is out there, it makes a big difference and helps take care of whatever needs to be done.”

He said the team is approaching every game with urgency.

“From our youngest guy to our oldest guy, everyone has stepped up and accepted their role, and it has really helped us.”

If Windsor wins Game 4, the Spitfires will advance to the Western Conference final against either the Kitchener Rangers or the Soo Greyhounds.

If Flint extends the series, Game 5 will be played Saturday night at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, with a 7:05 p.m. puck drop.

Thursday’s game is scheduled for 7 p.m. The AM800 pre-game show with Steve Bell begins at 6:45 p.m.
