Picketers blocking trucks from entering Titan Tool

Titan Tool workers in Windsor blocked six trucks from going into the factory on Thursday.

Locked out workers are blocking six trucks from getting into Titan Tool.

Six transport trucks were sitting in the centre lane on Howard Avenue on Thursday afternoon.

Windsor police were also on scene, but there were no reported issues and it appeared peaceful.

There were about two dozen Unifor picketers at the site.

On Tuesday, the union told AM800 they beefed up the picket line in an effort to stop the company. Local 195 president Emile Nabbout says the company recently said it wanted to cease operations at the Howard Avenue plant but alleges there’s been activity recently at the plant.

On Feb. 12, the union said it was notified the factory would cease operations. The company reportedly then insisted they were not stamping parts.

The union disputes this and believes the trucks are here to make parts.

“Now all we’re asking for is a severance pay so we can move on with our lives.” Randy St Pierre, Titan chairperson.

The workers have been locked out since Aug. 11, 2025, after contract talks failed.

In October 2025, the workers rejected 15 pages of concessions from the employer, which included a wage freeze, elimination of cost-of-living language, elimination of retiree benefits, mandatory overtime, and concessions around pensions, among many others.

The union represents 60 members, with 27 active members and 33 other laid-off workers.

Futura is owned by the same company as Titan Tool and Die.

The neighbouring plants are both in the area of Howard Avenue and Charles Street.
