Windsor police say a 58-year-old pedestrian has died after getting struck by a vehicle on Howard Avenue. Officers responded to a report of a crash in the 2800 block of Howard Avenue on Tuesday shortly after 11 p.m. When police got there, they located an unresponsive man in the roadway receiving medical treatment from Essex-Windsor EMS and Windsor Fire & Rescue Services personnel. Police say a preliminary investigation determined the man was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk and was struck by a vehicle travelling southbound on Howard Avenue. The 58-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene. Howard Avenue was closed between Edinborough Street and Grand Marais Road East for several hours as members of the Windsor Police Service Traffic Reconstruction Unit conducted their investigation.
