An off-duty officer with the Windsor Police Service has been charged after allegedly firing a gun in LaSalle. Just after 9 a.m. on Monday, police were called with a report of property damage at a home in the town. When they got to the scene, officers said holes were found by the homeowners in the walls of their semi-detached house. Police said a single round from a service-issued gun was fired inside a next-door home, which belongs to a WPS officer. The bullet went through a shared wall inside, then a second wall in the complainant’s home. Two people were inside the complainant’s home at the time. No injuries were reported. LaSalle police have charged Windsor police Const. Louis George, 49, with careless use of a firearm. George has been with the WPS since 2009. He has been reassigned to administrative duties while the case continues. Windsor police said a Professional Standards misconduct investigation will happen after criminal proceedings. No further information will be released on the case, WPS confirmed.
