Northern Ontario remains confirmed to be missing Windsor, Ont. man

Human remains found in northern Ontario have been confirmed to be a missing Windsor, Ont. man, according to Windsor police.

The remains were found in October near Timmins and have been identified as 37-year-old David Pavao.

Pavao was reported missing in the early morning on Aug. 14, 2025. Police conducted an extensive search in the weeks after, scouring Windsor and Essex County.

Five people have been arrested in connection with the homicide, the Windsor Police Service said. Those arrested include:

• 54-year-old Shane Ladouceur, charged with first-degree murder and indecent interference with a dead body
• 49-year-old Marie Christine Hannah, charged with accessory after the fact to murder and indecent interference with a dead body
• 61-year-old Ronald Holman, charged with accessory after the fact to murder and indecent interference with a dead body
• 27-year-old Colin Lusk, charged with first-degree murder and indecent interference with a dead body
• 40-year-old Jason Vincent Smith, charged with accessory after the fact to murder, indecent interference with a dead body, mischief under $5,000, and failure to comply with a release order
