Man arrested on Via Rail rear engine for break and enter

A 46-year-old London man has been arrested after police say he was found on the rear engine of a Via Rail train in Chatham.

On Wednesday at 5:55a.m., Chatham-Kent police received a request for assistance from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) regarding an unauthorized person on board a VIA Rail train.

Police say investigations revealed that the man was on board a VIA Rail passenger train travelling from Windsor towards Chatham.

Upon the train’s arrival, police say the individual was found on the rear engine.

He was arrested and charged with the following:

• Break and Enter – with intent to Commit Indictable Offence

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with a scheduled future court date of Jan. 19, 2026.
