Leamington man facing drug trafficking charges following police raid

A 22-year-old Leamington man is facing drug trafficking charges after police raided a home on Clark Street West.

Ontario Provincial Police say the search was carried out on May 9 by several specialized units, including the Essex County Community Street Crime Unit, the West Region Tactical Rescue Unit, the Emergency Response Team, the K9 Unit and local officers from the Leamington detachment.

During the raid, officers allegedly seized a quantity of suspected cocaine and Canadian currency.

Police estimate the combined value of the seized items to be more than $19,000.

Ezechiel Thompson has been charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

He remains in custody pending a bail hearing in Windsor.
