Input wanted on new Chatham-Kent community garden location

The Chatham-Kent Food Policy Council and CK Public Health would like public input on where the new community garden should be.

This comes after council approved the Community Gardens program expansion.

“I’d love to see a garden in every ward, so all Chatham-Kent residents have a chance to get involved,” said Councillor Morena McDonald.

“Expanding the program one garden at a time is our first step toward that goal. That’s why we’re asking residents to help us decide where the next garden should grow.

A short survey is available here until April 1.

You are asked to indicate if you are interested in gardening or volunteering at one of these sites:

• Ward 1 – Tilbury: Kirkam Park at 94 Massey Drive
• Ward 2 – Blenheim: Forsyth Park at 24 Gary Avenue
• Ward 3 – Thamesville: Ferguson Park at 2 Wallace Street
• Ward 3 – Bothwell: Victoria Park at 498 Elm Street West

“Your input through this survey will directly shape the future of this project and ensure the garden is placed where it can be best supported and most beneficial,” Councillor Carmen McGregor said.

“This is a chance for community voices to guide community action, and we encourage everyone interested to take a few minutes to share their thoughts.

The new garden is expected to open in May.
