Green bin pickup and bi-weekly garbage collection starts this week

Windsor will see a new waste collection schedule come into effect this week.

The City of Windsor is moving to bi-weekly garbage collection, with weekly green bin pickup, beginning this week.

“We’re excited to launch this next phase of Windsor’s sustainability efforts,” said Jim Leether, senior manager of environmental services.

“Weekly green bin collection will help residents divert food and organic waste from landfills, while bi-weekly garbage pickup encourages smarter sorting and less waste overall.”

Other key changes to keep note of are the blue box recycling staying bi-weekly, but changing on Jan. 1, 2026 and bi-weekly yard waste collection continuing through November.

Green bins were delivered over the summer and fall to homes. Residents are asked to have their bins at the curb by 6 a.m. on your pickup day.
