Cloudy start to the week with gusty winds, unsettled conditions ahead

A mostly cloudy start to the week is expected across the region, with shifting winds and fluctuating conditions setting the stage for a mix of sun, showers and warmer temperatures through the coming days.

Monday will bring mainly cloudy skies, with a northeast wind at 20 km/h easing late in the morning before strengthening again to 30 km/h by late afternoon. The daytime high is forecast to reach 13 C, with a UV index of 6.

Conditions improve somewhat Monday night, with skies clearing later in the evening as winds diminish. Temperatures will drop to about 1 C, with a risk of frost developing overnight.

Sunshine returns Tuesday morning, but the reprieve will be short-lived. Cloud cover is expected to increase early in the afternoon, bringing a 40 per cent chance of showers later in the day and a risk of a thunderstorm by late afternoon. A milder high of 17 C is expected.

Showers are expected to continue Tuesday night, with an overnight low of about 12 C.

Unsettled weather persists into midweek. Wednesday’s forecast calls for cloudy skies with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a high near 17 C. Cloudy periods will linger into the evening, along with a 40 per cent chance of showers and a cooler low of 6 C.

A return to more stable conditions is expected Thursday, with sunny skies and a high of 18 C. Clear skies Thursday night will bring a low of 9 C.

By Friday, warmer air moves into the region, pushing the daytime high to around 21 C. However, clouds will increase again, along with a 40 per cent chance of showers to end the workweek.
