Have you taken the pledge against bullying?

CTV’s parent company Bell Media and Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare launched the campaign in Windsor Essex on Friday.

Community leaders are reminding parents to talk to their families about “the Pledge to End Bullying.”

The President and CEO of Hotel Dieu, Janice Kaffer, says people can be subject to physical, verbal or cyberbullying.

In fact, Kaffer shared her own experience of being bullied in music class in school.

Kaffer explains the campaign can help identify the problem and how to best handle it.

Brooke Sebban, 8, has signed an online pledge with reads: "I believe that everyone has the right to live in a community where they feel safe included, valued and respected regardless of differences. I pledge to be respectful of others and stand up against bullying whenever and wherever I see it."

Sebban adds her mother and brother have also taken the pledge and she plans “to help spread the word at school."

Tamara Kowalska of the Windsor Youth Centre says "children and youth did not invent bullying. We as adults should take responsibility to be very aware that it is our actions and our speech and our behaviour that are being learned from the younger generation.”
