Basketball used in 1936 Olympics up for auction by Windsor native

A basketball used in that sport's first international championship game is up for auction and there's a Windsor connection.

The basketball was used in the gold medal game in the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

The Canadian team – the Ford V8's from Windsor – took home silver against the U.S. and the captain brought back another souvenir, the ball.

After the game, James Stewart gave the ball to his wife who discretely tucked it under a blanket.

It's remained in the family, but now his son, Jimmy Stewart is putting it up for auction.

It's expected to bring in at least six figures in a Baltimore auction on July 12.
