Amherstburg council is being asked to approve a grand opening for the Waterfront Festival Plaza this summer. Closed for more than five years, the site underwent environmental cleanup and redevelopment. A proposed three-day celebration from July 31 to Aug. 2 is in the works. Town staff are asking for $30 thousand for the event, which would include family activities, vendors, and live entertainment. The project may include a partnership with Caldwell First Nation to develop a sculpture for the plaza.
