WorkSafeBC has launched an investigation into a fatal accident in Coquitlam, B.C., Friday afternoon. Workplace safety investigators attended the scene after being notified of the incident around 4 p.m., WorkSafeBC said in a statement Saturday. “The purpose of our investigation is to identify and understand the occupational health and safety factors that contributed to the incident, so that similar incidents can be prevented in the future,” the statement said. According to the Coquitlam RCMP, police officers, fire services and BC Hydro were called to the area of Coast Meridian Road and Harper Road just before 4 p.m. amid a report a person had fallen from “a residence.” “Police arrived on scene and observed one person who had unfortunately passed away,” the statement said. The investigation is ongoing.
