Woman’s body found in forested area near Chilliwack, B.C.

Police say foul play is not suspected after the body of a 68-year-old woman was found in a forested area near Chilliwack, B.C.

Mounties responded to a report of possible human remains located along Pale Creek Forest Service Road in the Chilliwack River Valley at approximately 4:17 p.m. Saturday.

An RCMP helicopter team was called to help police access the remote area and search for the remains.

“With their support, police located the remains of a 68‑year‑old woman,” said Cpl. Carmen Kiener of the Upper Fraser Valley RCMP in a statement Monday. “A vehicle found nearby was determined to be associated to the deceased.”

Volunteers with Chilliwack Search and Rescue attended the scene to help recover the remains, police said.

Investigators are working with the B.C. Coroners Service to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

“Currently, foul play is not suspected,” the statement said. “No further information, including the identity of the deceased, will be released at this time.”
