Weeklong closures coming for both Pattullo Bridge and its replacement

Starting Feb. 6, the Pattullo Bridge and its replacement, the new stal̕əw̓asəm (Riverview) Bridge, will be closed to all vehicular traffic—except emergency vehicles—for approximately one week.

The closures are necessary to allow crews to finish connections to roadways on either side of the new bridge, according to TransLink.

Work to be completed includes “raising ground levels, putting in utilities, completing paving and installing the foundation for the Royal-Agnes multi-use path overpass,” TransLink said in a statement regarding the closures.

During the closures, the sidewalk on the Pattullo Bridge will remain open for pedestrians and cyclists, the transit agency said.

“Reopening details for the Pattullo Bridge will be shared once confirmed and are weather dependent,” TransLink said.

While the bridges are closed, drivers should use the Port Mann and Alex Fraser bridges as alternative routes, according to TransLink, which added that the N19 NightBus will be rerouted between New Westminster and Scott Road SkyTrain Stations during the closures.

SkyTrain service on the Expo and Millennium lines will also start an hour earlier than normal on Sunday, Feb. 8, TransLink said.

The closures are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. on Feb. 6.

The Pattullo Bridge replacement project has been plagued by delays and cost overruns. Originally intended to be completed in 2023, the new crossing opened to a single lane of northbound traffic on Dec. 24, 2025.

Once finished, the new bridge will include wider lanes separated by a centre median, along with dedicated walking and cycling paths designed to improve safety. The project’s budget now sits at $1.6 billion.
