Science World released this timelapse video of its transformation into "The Beautiful Dome" for the World Cup.

FIFA fever is in full swing in Vancouver, and one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks has been transformed into an eye-catching tribute to the event.

Over the course of a month, Science World became “The Beautiful Dome,” a massive replica of the official match ball of the 2026 World Cup, the adidas Trionda.

On Tuesday, Science World released a timelapse video of the process, which involved installing 131 panels that used about 65,000 square feet of coated fabric reinforced with 12,000 linear feet of webbing and 15,000 grommets.

“Capturing the excitement of FIFA World Cup 2026 on an architectural landmark like Science World’s iconic dome is no small achievement. It takes an immense amount of vision, creativity and collaboration, at a scale that very few projects reach,” said Jacob Burke, CEO of the Look Company, the marketing firm behind the installation.

“This design embodies the World Cup and creates a visual experience that fans and players alike will remember for years to come.”

The big ball has become a very popular photo opportunity for fans heading to and from BC Place.

Throughout the summer, Science World is also home to the Soccer and Technology exhibit from the FIFA Museum, which displays the evolution of the sport.
